Captured (in Black and White)

I'm having a lot of fun playing around in PhotoShop. I'd never really realized that a good black and white edit was so hard to find! There are several great tutorials online (I've had good luck with Mira Crisp's tutorial) and I also love messing with various actions, and I think I'm getting the hang of this!

I love the ethereal look of this image in color, but I think B&W really makes it stand out. Plus I love pictures of my bestie!!

Rejoining the Hunt!

Last week I completely missed getting any prompts done for the hunt until Saturday night. At that point, I figured I'd just take a break for a week and rejoin later. Well, that time has come. You are welcome.

In any case, here are my shots for the week {hm... shots... that sounds like an excellent idea! But I digress...}. Stop by Ashley's blog for more amazing entries!!






1) Long Exposure- This one I didn't really get, but the exposure on this image was fairly long, and I love pictures of my boys!!

2) Shapes- This is black gold garlic. We got three heads of this stuff and it cost $8.00!! However, the flavor is really amazing and distinct, and it is seriously gorgeous. The only edit on this shot was the watermark- the rest is just naturally awesome texture!

3) Green

4) Fruit- Our local farmer's market had a huge number of vendors today. Several of them had these adorable little Tiger melons. They are wee and delicious!

5) Childhood Memory- As of May 14th {at about 5pm}, Copper and I have been together for more than half of my life. I think you can say that makes him a major childhood memory! Oh, and he isn't always this cranky looking. He just has a moral opposition to sharing sugar cubes.

Signs

Over at Twisted Fate, the photo challenge this week is "Signs". Out at the barn, I thought Copper was giving this other pony a pretty clear sign that he was not interested in sharing his sugar cubes! I edited the curves to lighten the image, then ran PW's Old West action.

Good to Wow: Looking up edits!

For the second half of the Good to Wow link up, I'm sharing the edits I did on these shots. I haven't graduated to advanced photo processing yet, so I mostly just played with color levels and ran a few Pioneer Woman actions (Boost and Lovely & Ethereal are my favorites to play with!), but I LOVE how the edits came out!

Balloons- these were harder to edit than I thought they would be. They were so overblown that it was hard to make the colors really come out. I do love how they turned out so ethereal. The next thing I want to work on is editing out lines (like the power lines in the 2nd picture), but I'm happy with my current results!

May Photo Hunt Challenge

Just what I needed... another photo hunt to get addicted to!! I love this one because it made me go back through all of my May images and I was able to use some of my favorites, as well as discover and appreciate some that I'd ignored the first time around. Lesson learned- always look at your pictures again after some time apart. You find new and beautiful images of your own creation!

1) Wind- I can almost hear the wind rustling through the leaves, even now...

4) Vibrant- Life is full of surprises... and rubber duckies?

5) Unique- My beautiful, quirky, unique and awesome bestie- forever to be known as Roommateo! I miss you already!!

7) Lines- Turn this bike into a geared ride and I would be set! Adorableness on wheels!!

8) Spring Activity- Enjoying the sunshine seems very springy to me! {as does playing with adorable felines}

9) Reading Material

10) One-Point Perspective Lines- I'll be honest- I had to wiki this one. But in the end I love that I got to use this image!!

11) Something Juicy- This isn't what I personally would have chosen, but this pup made the choice for me. From the way he was nomming on that roller skate you would have thought it was the juiciest steak in the history of the world. There is no accounting for taste!
