Shades of Autumn {Brown}
Things have been brown around here for a while. As in, dead, brown and not very pretty. However, brown is a warm, comforting color under normal conditions {for me at least}, so I tried to get some good shots for this week's Shades of Autumn challenge. I just have to keep the idea of coffee in mind and it feels so much better!

Quotography & more
I've fallen off the photo challenge bandwagon. However, after a recent photographic experience that had me feeling pretty awesome, I've decided to start participating again! Without further ado- the pictures!

Today at work was rough, but watching my pup 'swim' through the grass upside down made me grin!
I used this tutorial (and btw- she has TONS of great tutorials on her blog!!) to get this shot. I just downloaded a random bokeh shot from deviantart and used it as the background texture. The SOOC (below) was boring, but I LOVE the final product!

Shades of Autumn: Yellow
I'm not sure why it took me so long to join up with this photo challenge! Maybe it is because we don't really have fall where I live...
But a recent trip to Minneapolis (to visit my parents:) gave me a chance to soak in some fall colors. Oh yeah, and photograph them too:) I'll be working through other shots from our mini vacation, and I'm hoping to share those with you as the week progresses!
For now- join me over at Bumbles and Light for the Shades of Autumn challenge!

Keeping up the Halloween spirit!
My best friend came to visit me over the Halloween weekend. *ahem* YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY
Not that I was excited about it or anything;).
In true Halloween spirit, we carved jack-o-lanterns {while watching The Nightmare Before Christmas, no less!}
Made caramel apples {courtesy of Mr. Pony, who surprised us by making home-made caramel sauce for us!}
And on All Hallow's Eve, we dressed up in our ghoulish best {ok- cheap make-up and clothing from my closet} for a night on the town!
We ended up having to make our own mini dance party because all the people in Central Nowhere were so busy getting hammered that they forgot to dance. Bastards. Oh yes, and of the hundreds sharing Halloween festivities, we were members of the small crowd that realized that Halloween is about the damned and the monstrous, not about wearing lingerie as a costume- maybe that is why no one would dance with us. Wimps.
At least we had a fabulous time and looked wicked doing it!
Men say that in this midnight hour,
The disembodièd have power
To wander as it liketh them,
By wizard oak and fairy stream.

The Joys of Fall
Flaming colors in every tree.
Crunchy leaves underfoot.
Warm apple cider and sugary donuts.
Crisp morning air and frisky pony gallops.
Scowling jack-o-lanterns with flickering eyes.
Tall boots and cozy tights.
Firepits or bonfires with copious amounts of s'mores.
Haunted hayrack rides and nervously giggling nights.
Skittering leaves following me in the wind.
Ghostly visions and wicked hi-jinks.
Fair Isle sweaters and fleece blankets.
Rake leaves, jump in the pile. Repeat. Giggle.
Long evenings in with lamplight and good books.
Fuzzy slippers and woolen mittens.

Happy Autumn!!!
Today is the autumnal equinox, and I couldn't be happier {except if I lived in an area that actually exhibited seasons. *le sigh*}
Time to stock up on hot chocolate, fuzzy blankets and very thick books to last me through til spring. Huzzah!
Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns. - George Eliot

Fashion for all {me}
After spending a semester in Ireland during college, and various autumnal European travels, I've made an an {arbitrary} association between fall and fashion. As September 22 approaches, I'm now thinking about some wardrobe revamping my wardrobe with some new fashions. Of course, while I like looking gorgeous, I've always been budget-minded, so finding clothes that don't break the bank is something of a passtime for me. I've found that Old Navy has fairly good quality clothing, and they've got some wonderful items this year that I hope I can add to my wardrobe!
